On June 19, 2023, in the "Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov" Hall in Building 8 of the Technical University – Sofia, diplomas were ceremonially awarded to over 70 graduates – bachelors and masters from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts of the Faculty of English Engineering Education (FAIE).
The Rector of TU – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, congratulated the graduates with the words: "It is a great pleasure for me to welcome all these young colleagues on their graduation and, on behalf of the academic leadership and in my own name, to wish them health and much success both in their personal and creative paths. Dear young colleagues, there are days in every person's life that are remembered forever. I am convinced that today will be such a day for you, one that will remain in the history of the Technical University of Sofia. A day that we will remember with pride in what has been achieved and with dreams for what we will do in the future. From today, you are officially part of the technical elite of the nation. Be proud and worthy of what you know, can do, and do, but do not stop learning, because knowledge is a great power that gives independence. Pass on what you have learned to your heirs, your colleagues, your loved ones, and always work for the good of people, for the good of the nation, for the well-being among peoples, so that we all live in a peaceful and good world. And do not forget what your parents have done for you. Dear parents, thank you for making the best investment in a person's life – the investment in education. I also want to specially thank the representatives of business, who do a lot so that we can not only motivate young people to study, but also to conduct top-level research. 'Engineer' is a French word that means a person who creates, and in fact, we strive to teach our students to do what we have not taught them. Because an engineer is someone who not only improves and repairs, but transforms dreams into reality, creating new things that did not exist before. Of course, I also want to express gratitude to all the faculty members and staff. Dear young colleagues, be proud of what you have achieved, but do not stop; move on to further educational degrees, continue learning throughout your lives, and apply what you have learned in practice. And always set high goals and strive to achieve them. Good luck and many happy returns!"
The Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, Prof. Dr. Eng. Tasho Tashev, addressed the graduates with the following words: "On behalf of the Dean's office, I welcome you and thank you for the efforts you have made during your studies in the bachelor's and master's programs. Some of you had the opportunity to visit foreign universities and companies through mobility programs and gain the necessary experience that will help you in your future professional careers. Others of you combined your studies with work in industrial enterprises, which is also of great benefit. I hope that wherever you go, you will remember your teachers from the Technical University – Sofia and, of course, use the knowledge you have acquired here. Good luck, I wish you health and creative success!"
Yonatan Yordanov, Bachelor, valedictorian of the Faculty of English Engineering Education, graduating class of 2022, major in "Industrial Engineering", delivered a welcome address on behalf of the graduates: "Dear Rector of the Technical University – Sofia, dear Dean of the Faculty of English Engineering Education, dear academic authorities and professors, fellow graduates and future colleagues, dear parents, families, and friends who have joined us on this day of pride. It is an honor for me to speak on behalf of all my colleagues. It is not easy to find the words that convey the emotion we share at this moment in our lives, as we make a final leap into the future after a four-year adventure of building and shaping ourselves. We are happy to know more about who we are, what we will do, and what we will offer to the world in which we have grown up. This is a huge responsibility, but also an honor for us, who have been preparing for years. It is not just a dream come true; behind our success lies much hard work, limitations, and sleepless nights. Now, new challenges stand before us, scientific progress in fast-paced times. I would like to share with you what it means to be happily fulfilled – it is to learn something you love, that brings you pleasure, that makes you develop, succeed, and start working in it. It is for society to highly value your work, including financially, to be at a world level. Everyone should know about your abilities at all times to feel like a citizen of the world, while living and working in Bulgaria, among your loved ones, relatives, and friends. Today, we are all colleagues; we are engineers, and each of us will carry with us the lesson of humility, belonging, and respect, which our teachers guided us with up to this moment, so I want to thank them. I want to thank our parents, our families, everyone who is with us today, applauds us, and is proud of our success. I want to thank you, professors, teachers, and educators, everyone who has paved the way for us, given us the necessary push, time, knowledge, and shared your wisdom with us."
The ceremony continued with the awarding of diplomas, with the top students receiving them from the Rector of TU – Sofia, Prof. Ivan Králov, along with medals, certificates, and monetary awards.
The ceremony was attended by deputy deans and faculty members from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, as well as relatives and friends of the happy graduates.
Good luck, graduates of the Technical University – Sofia!
