In the database of the Specialized Unit "Air Surveillance" of the General Directorate "Border Police" in Sofia, three visits were conducted from the beginning of December by students and teachers from the Department of "Air Transport" at the Faculty of Transport of TU-Sofia.
The purpose of the visits was for the students to become familiar with the tasks and activities performed by the employees of the engineering and technical staff, as well as to view the aviation equipment.
The guests observed a presentation on the structure of SOVN, the material base, maintaining constant airworthiness, basic technical maintenance, line technical maintenance, entry requirements and salaries, and the development strategy of the unit. The presentation concluded with a short clip on the operational activities of the unit – air surveillance of the state border. The information was presented by Inspector Viktor Nenchev – board engineer in the "Sofia Base" sector and Commissioner Chavdar Georgiev – deputy head of SOVN.
The practical tour began with the "Technical Maintenance and Repair" sector. Software products for maintaining the constant airworthiness of the helicopters, which the engineers of the sector use in performing their tasks, were presented.
The students showed great interest in the activities related to basic technical support and the specialized tools used in servicing the aircraft.
The helicopters were expectedly viewed with the greatest curiosity by the students and teachers. They had the opportunity to become familiar in detail with the flight operation, presented by the pilots and board engineers.
The interest in the visit showed that among the students there are undoubtedly future employees – engineers in the Specialized Unit "Air Surveillance" of the GDBP.
