For the third consecutive year, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" has entered a prestigious global ranking. In the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, SU ranks 814th among the 2002 ranked universities. This places it among the top 40% of the best universities in the world, 312th out of 621 ranked Eurouniversities, and 29th out of 90 universities in Eastern Europe.
The assessment takes into account research in the field of science and technology, the coverage of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the social and environmental impact of universities.
In the "Environmental Impact" category, SU ranks 1025th, in "Social Impact" it ranks 845th, and in "Governance" it ranks 370th. In the "Environmental Sustainability" category, SU ranks 728th, in "Gender Equality" - 677th, and in "Knowledge Exchange" - 654th.
The Technical University of Sofia is in 1501st position in the ranking.
