Over 45 leading companies are participating in the 19th edition of "Career Days", which was officially opened today at the Technical University – Sofia, Plovdiv branch.
I am very glad to see so many of our partners at this wonderful event - "Career Days", which is being held for the 19th time - partners of the university, partners of the students, companies, firms that provide enormous support both for the training, development and creation of personnel, of course, and then in the professional realization of our graduates, students at the Technical University. This was said in his opening speech by the director of the branch, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Nikola Shakev.
He pointed out that this year, more than 45 companies are participating, which is an indication both of the role, significance, and meaning of their work as lecturers at TU-Sofia, Plovdiv Branch, and also an opportunity for students for internships, professional development, and practical training. "I hope that students will make the most of these opportunities and that we will continue with these extremely active relationships between the university and the business sector," he added.
On behalf of the academic leadership, Assoc. Prof. Alexander Mitov, Deputy Head for International Activities and Integration at the Technical University (TU) – Sofia, delivered a welcome address. "I am proud to state that over 154 employers will meet with our students during the exhibition. Through this exhibition, we provide an excellent opportunity for our students to get acquainted with representatives of leading global companies, as well as to find their internship and career opportunities. This is a way not only to apply their knowledge in real business but also to understand what else they need to learn to become competitive and reliable specialists. The Technical University of Sofia has been building the technical elite of the nation for 80 years. The quality of our graduates is extremely important to us, and it depends not only on the educational process but also on the connection with business," said Assoc. Prof. Mitov.
He pointed out that this is precisely the place where students not only understand the needs of industry and business but also actively participate in their internships and programs. He wished all students excellent opportunities for new, fruitful contacts during the exhibition and added that forums like the current one provide an opportunity for teachers and university management not only to monitor the achievements of their graduates but also to receive feedback from businesses on what else needs to be adapted, improved, and updated to achieve even higher quality of education. "In this regard, I would like to thank all the employers who are here today to help the future engineers of Bulgaria find the right direction in their professional
implementation. It is increasingly imperative for the educational process to meet the needs of the industry and business,” he said.
Clarify that the tradition of holding the "Career Days" exhibition and student feedback is important for TU-Sofia. "I am convinced that this year's edition of the exhibition will continue this successful tradition," concluded Assoc. Prof. Mitov's greeting to the students.
Dr. Eng. Rosen Kosturkov from Trakia Economic Zone congratulated the management of the TU-Sofia branch in Plovdiv on the event and expressed surprise at how many large companies are present at the exhibition. "This simply shows that in recent years, the branch's policy of getting closer to the real industry and allowing the industry into the educational process is yielding results," he said, wishing the students to learn and take advantage of the opportunities provided.
"As a technology company, we strongly believe that the Technical University is the university that produces young engineers and the future of the technological world," said Vesela Kuzova from ABB Bulgaria, and advised students to be active today and take the opportunity to meet all the employers who are at the exhibition.
The Chairman of the Student Council at the Plovdiv Branch, candidate engineer Teodor Demirev, welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of the exhibition for the future career development of students.
The opening was hosted by Assoc. Prof. Hristian Panayotov, Deputy Director for "International Activities and Integration".
Companies from various sectors of the industry presented their internship programs, open job positions, and opportunities for professional development during the exhibition today. Students had the opportunity to conduct on-site interviews, which helps them navigate the labor market, gain valuable experience in the application process, and assess their chances for a successful career.
