You are educating intelligent people, and the more students you have, the better it is for Bulgaria and its future, Vice President Iliana Yotova said in her speech at the festive concert-performance for the 80th anniversary of the Technical University-Sofia, which took place this evening at the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov".
One of the most prestigious higher education institutions in our country - the Technical University (TU) in Sofia, is celebrating its 80th anniversary. Thank you for the warm invitation; just now, Rector Prof. Georgi Venkov told part of the history, the chronicle of TU in Sofia - about what it is today in terms of internal structure and on the international stage, she noted.
The Vice President said that a year ago, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the French Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University, she was awarded a gold medal - for contribution and for the development of higher education in Bulgaria. "For me, this medal is of exceptional value; I feel like part of your community and I greatly respect the Technical University, I know many teachers. I have had the opportunity to meet with students and talk. And thank you for preserving the authority of TU for so many years, turning it into a higher education institution that has not only Bulgarian but also international fame", Iliana Yotova said.
She noted that the teachers, through their work, are turning TU in Sofia not only into a school for engineers but also creating an oasis against illiteracy and against the low style of behavior, which, unfortunately, we often see in our country.
The Vice President also addressed all the teachers at the Technical University and clarified that for her there are no current and former teachers, because throughout the entire 80-year history of TU there are many people - worthy Bulgarians, women and men, who through their teaching and scientific work have written their own professional biography, but have also given a lot to the students. They write the biography of our country as well, because technologies, engineering, projects, the development of technological sciences - this is the future of the world. Your role, I would not say just work, is enormous, and all teachers at the Technical University deserve applause and bows, Yotova noted.
According to her, today TU also enjoys international recognition, because it is not only a place for teaching and training, but also a huge research center that works with its branches and with secondary education, and this is part of the success formula. Iliana Yotova explained what the success formula of the Technical University is - to have the latest technologies in your hands, to generously share them with colleagues and young people, to make your base one of the most modern and contemporary, and every teacher works on themselves, does not stand still and wants to be more and more modern and knowledgeable, and to give more and more of themselves. The Vice President noted that the Technical University is also part of the prestigious EUT+ university network.
