The news was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev during the opening of the new academic year at the elite technological school.
The Ministry of Innovations and Growth, together with the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD), is working intensively on the opening of a new building of the Technological School "Electronic Systems" (TUES) in Sofia Tech Park.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovations and Growth Tomislav Donchev during the ceremonial opening of the new academic year at TUES.
The new academic building will be located in close proximity to the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technologies (INSAIT) and the supercomputers in the technology park. The Deputy Minister of Innovations and Growth, Prof. Georgi Angelov, also attended the event.
In his address to the students and teachers, Tomislav Donchev shared a personal memory and offered wishes for success. "The director of the mathematics high school where I studied used to read the same speech every year. It began by saying that on this day all of Bulgaria goes to school. Many years had to pass before I realized that he was absolutely right and understood that the world would be a much better place if we measured time not in calendar years, but in academic years. This would mean that every year is better than the previous one, that every year we have learned something new and improved ourselves."
He urged young people to develop and contribute to a better world. "Learn, create, and I am convinced that with your efforts to develop yourselves, you will make the world a better place. You will succeed in pushing forward the boundary between ignorance and knowledge," the Deputy Prime Minister added.
TUES is a specialized technological school under the Technical University of Sofia, which prepares personnel for the IT sector in areas such as computer science, programming, electronics, and computer networks, with an emphasis on entrepreneurial skills.
Link between science and business
During the opening of the academic year at the University of Telecommunications and Posts (UTP), Deputy Minister of Innovations and Growth Martin Danovski also emphasized the ministry's commitment to the future of education and technology.
"From the Ministry of Innovations and Growth, we will continue to confidently invest in programs and projects that create a link between science and business. In projects that touch upon deep technologies and provide the opportunity for scientific knowledge to become applicable in everyday life."
He presented diplomas to the outstanding master's students from the 'Digital Leadership' specialization and addressed the graduates of UTP with the words that innovation is the path to a sustainable economy.
Mathematics as the foundation of innovation
On September 15, Deputy Minister Krassimir Yakimov opened the academic year at the First Private Mathematical Gymnasium and Primary School 'Archimedes' in Sofia. He highlighted the key role of mathematics in the development of the modern world.
"Today more than ever, the world needs young people who master this universal language and can transform it into high technologies and innovative solutions. Your choice to follow the path of mathematics is a choice to build a future – your own and that of the entire society."
