An investment of 400 thousand BGN secured a modern training hall for future engineers and IT specialists
At the beginning of the new academic year, Technical University – Sofia opened the fully renovated and modernized training hall – the "Yakim Yakimov" Aula, where future engineers and IT specialists of Bulgaria will be trained. The renovation was implemented with an investment of nearly 400 thousand BGN from Amusnet – the largest Bulgarian technology company*.
At the official ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov and the Executive Director of Amusnet, Ivo Georgiev, cut the ribbon and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The partnership includes hackathons, open lectures, career days, and a number of initiatives through which students will be able to apply their knowledge in practice.
The renovated Aula now meets modern European standards – with a modern climate control system, efficient lighting, multimedia equipment, and entirely new 252 seats. The space has been transformed into a comfortable and functional environment that combines convenience and technology in support of quality education.
"Education is at the core of the development of society and the economy. When young people have opportunities for realization here, we not only retain talents but also create conditions for innovation and growth," commented Ivo Georgiev, Chief Executive Officer of Amusnet.
Rector Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov added that the modernization of the Aula is "an important step in the university's efforts to provide its students with modern conditions for education and development, in sync with business needs".
The company has already implemented its own training academies – the QA Academy, which started in October, and the DevOps Academy, planned for 2026. In November, the first Amusnet hackathon will be held, giving ten student teams the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and receive direct job offers.
The initiative is part of Amusnet's overall strategy to support the education sector. In 2024, the company donated servers to Technical University – Sofia and Technical University – Gabrovo to modernize infrastructure and provide modern technological resources for education and scientific activities.
This type of initiatives is a clear signal of the need for a closer link between education and business. They show that corporate investments in the education system are not an expense, but a long-term investment in economic growth, innovation, and the country's competitiveness.
