The new specialization "Aerospace Engineering" is being launched at the Technical University of Sofia, the higher education institution announced.
The "Aerospace Engineering" specialization, at the educational and qualification level (EQL) of "Bachelor", is the only one of its kind in the field of aerospace engineering in the country, providing opportunities for successful career realization. This, along with the growing popularity of space exploration and air travel, are the reasons why there will be a high demand for aerospace engineers in the present and near future, according to the press center of the Technical University (TU) in Sofia.
The higher education institution clarifies that student career prospects are guaranteed primarily by the wide range of opportunities provided by the growth of the commercial space sector and the development of space programs worldwide. This defines an increasing need for qualified aerospace engineers. Recent developments have increased the demand for them, especially in countries from South Asia - such as China and India, which are investing significantly in aerospace infrastructure and local manufacturing capabilities, thereby opening new pathways for avionics, space technologies, and research in the field of defense. Specifically, NASA, ISRO, private companies - such as "SpaceX" (SpaceX) and "Blue Origin" (Blue Origin), and international collaborations actively pursue piloted missions to space destinations. In recent years, many companies have expanded their operations and shifted towards the production and servicing of satellites, drones, piloted and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Graduates of the specialty can find employment in various companies involved in the design, production, operation, and maintenance of aerospace and space vehicles, as well as their associated infrastructure, add the representatives of TU-Sofia.
