The students thoroughly examined all the main and auxiliary facilities of the company. At the invitation of the Management of Toplofikation Pleven, a group of master's students from the "Gas Engineering and Management" specialization at the Technical University of Sofia visited the company. The students thoroughly examined all the main and auxiliary facilities of the company and listened to an interesting talk regarding the history, present, and future plans of the Management of Toplofikation Pleven for the development of one of the modern power plants in Bulgaria.
"Unfortunately, the profession of energy specialist is not among the most attractive to young people in the country, but our team is extremely keen to further ignite the spark in those who have chosen this specialization for their future career. For this reason, we are open to everyone and gladly conduct talks with school students and university students for whom energy and engineering are of interest," said Eng. Yordan Vasilev, Executive Director of Toplofikation Pleven.
The director mentioned that the most interesting part for the students was to get up close with their modern gas turbine, manufactured by the American conglomerate General Electric, which is the pride of the company. This is the first such modern gas turbine implemented in a Bulgarian energy enterprise.
"We were impressed, seeing with our own eyes how such a facility operates, and here in Bulgaria. During the talk, we learned that among the main advantages of gas turbines are high reliability, ease of operation, as well as the ability to produce heat with extremely high parameters. Of course, the most important advantage of the technology used is its excellent environmental performance, which meets all current environmental standards, since natural gas is a proven eco-friendly fuel. My colleagues and I are extremely grateful to the Management of Toplofikation Pleven and especially to Director Eng. Vasilev for paying us such attention and allowing us to see how all these facilities actually work, which we only study theoretically at the university. Thank you!" said one of the students, enrolled in the master's program in "Gas Engineering and Gas Management" at the Technical University of Sofia, excitedly.
During their visit, the students from the most prestigious technical university in Bulgaria were also introduced in great detail to the design and operation of the company's steam turbines, which have an extremely high efficiency coefficient and operate highly efficiently at Toplofikation Pleven.
"The doors of Toplofikation Pleven are always open to all school students and university students who wish to get firsthand knowledge of the operation of our facilities and the working model of our company. Future energy specialists, you are welcome at Toplofikation Pleven!" concluded Eng. Yordan Vasilev.
