
The Technical University of Sofia (TUS) hosted the 41st National Olympiad in Technical Drawing, announced the university's press center. The competition, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), attracted 118 students from across the country, from grades 7 to 12, divided into three competitive groups. For the eighth consecutive year, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Sofia, the Department of "Fundamentals and Technical Means for Design," served as co-organizer and host. Among the official guests at the opening were Deputy Minister of Education and Science Eng. Tanya Mihaylova, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Dr. Eng. Stiliyan Nikolov, experts from MES and the Regional Inspectorate of Education in Sofia-City, as well as department heads from the faculty. "You are all winners, not because you are at the Olympiad, but because you have chosen technical vocational education," said Deputy Minister of Education and Science Eng. Tanya Mihaylova to the students. At a technical conference, which included team leaders, members of the National Commission, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) and business, important topics related to education and future training were discussed. During free hours, students and their supervisors had the opportunity to tour the activities in the laboratories of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. After the completion of the competitive part, the results were announced. In the first competitive group, students from PPMPG "Nancho Popovich" in Shumen participated, and students from SU "Dr. Petar Beron" in Kostinbrod took third place. First place was taken by Mikhail Nikolov from grade 7, second place by Sara Karagyozyan from grade 8, and third place by Yvet Georgieva from grade 7. In the second competitive group, students from NPGPTO "M. V. Lomonosov" in Sofia, PPMPG "Nancho Popovich" in Shumen, and PGTE "Henry Ford" in Sofia participated. First place was taken by Nikolay Aleksandrov from grade 11, second place by Mario Neykov from grade 10, and third place by Kristian Yanev from grade 12. In the third competitive group, students from NPGPTO "M. V. Lomonosov" in Sofia and PPMPG "Nancho Popovich" in Shumen participated. First place was taken by Darin Zlatkov from grade 11, second place by Kaloyan Kalev from grade 11, and third place by Ivan Kadiev from grade 12. TUS noted that this year's competition also selected ten laureates, eight of whom were from the second competitive group and two from the third. The winners were awarded cups, medals, and certificates from MES and the National Commission. Awards were also distributed, funded by MES, the Ministry of Finance, NPGPTO "M. V. Lomonosov," and the Olympiad sponsors: "Aurubis Bulgaria," "Multivac Bulgaria Production," "Elatsite - Med," "Silver Star Motors," "KAD Point," "Optiklasa," and the Bulgarian Union of Standardizers, announced TUS. The awards were presented to the first competitive group by Eng. Rositsa Ilieva from MES, to the second competitive group by Eng. Tanya Mihaylova - Deputy Minister of Education and Science, and to the third competitive group by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Stanchev - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the National Commission. Participants also received greetings from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Boryana Ilieva - Head of the Department of "Fundamentals and Technical Means for Design" and member of the National Commission, as well as from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Velizar Vasilev - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, who presented to them the training opportunities at TUS-Sofia, while Eng. Rositsa Ilieva expressed her gratitude to the National Commission for the high professionalism and dedication shown in the process of organizing and conducting the Olympiad, note TUS.
