The Technical University of Sofia (TU-Sofia) successfully conducted the first preliminary entrance examination in mathematics, the university announced.
It was held at TU-Sofia, Plovdiv branch, and the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy in Sliven. Nearly 1,300 applicants took the exam, confirming the growing interest in studying at the leading higher technical institution in the country and the region.
Applicants Daria Ivanova from Botevgrad and Radoslav Yordanov from Kyustendil drew Test Variant 1. The Rector, Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov, emphasized to the applicants that the traditional bachelor's specialties at TU-Sofia number over 50, while the newest ones are linked to labor market demand, namely "Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence," "Data Analysis," "Cybersecurity," "Aerospace Engineering," "Intelligent Systems in Industry, City, and Home," and others.
The exam duration was 4 astronomical hours, divided into two modules of 120 minutes each, with a mandatory 15-minute break between them. The first module consisted of 20 tasks of lower difficulty, with each correctly solved task worth 1 point. The second module consisted of 10 tasks of higher difficulty, with each correctly solved task worth 2 points. The maximum number of points for the test is 40, the university announced.
Applications can be submitted for all specialties using the mathematics grade, except for "Engineering Design," the university stated.
Preliminary entrance examinations in mathematics will also be held on April 12, 2025, in Varna, Dupnitsa, Kardzhali, Montana, Pleven, Razgrad, and Stara Zagora, and on April 26, 2025, in Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Pravets, Sandanski, Smolyan, Targovishte, and Haskovo. The regular entrance examination in mathematics is scheduled for June 14, 2025. Applicants have the right to take all exams at their discretion, with the highest score being taken into account for the final score calculation, TU-Sofia further stated.
