Project #ReKosh - an intelligent container with AI technology for collecting and classifying plastic bottles and cans at the Technical University has been awarded in the "Best Youth Startup" competition and received an award from the Municipality of Sofia.
The project started in 2021 and is the first engineering project for Denis Ismetov. Together with Alexander Kochev, they presented #ReKosh to Radio Sofia.
"This is actually a container with an AI camera that recognizes what object is placed inside. It accepts bottles or cans, depending on the type of container. The idea is to teach people recycling with it. It does not sort waste; it accepts one specific type of waste and rejects others," shared Denis Ismetov.
Initially, the project focuses on students so they can learn to recycle. The main feature of the machine is that when a person throws a specific type of waste into it, they receive points that can be used for discounts in supermarkets.
"We have built a prototype, and we are looking for our first customers and investors who wish to invest. We hope to find people who are interested in this field so that we can complete the project," explained Denis.
If we try to dispose of waste that is different from bottles or cans, the machine starts to light up in red, pointed out Alexander Kochev.
"The session cannot be completed, and the person cannot collect their points if they leave waste behind. What we focused on in this development is the technology – to improve it," emphasized Alexander Kochev.

Denis Ismetov and Aleksandar Kochev, together with a colleague, have developed another project for external shutters that have solar panels and produce electrical energy.
