Participants in the “Vivacom Technical Academy” 2025 visited the strategic Planat Teleport facility – the largest satellite communications facility in Bulgaria and one of the most modern in the world. The station holds the highest possible certification level in the field of satellite services – Tier 4, and through it, Vivacom broadcasts over 600 television channels, as well as provides connectivity across Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, and even in remote regions such as Antarctica. Students from the Technical University – Sofia learned about the history of the facility, its role in global connectivity, and the real technological processes behind satellite communications, which are part of our daily lives.
The Planat station is key to Vivacom's satellite infrastructure and has earned international recognition and leading positions in the sector for the company. Earlier this year, Vivacom, as part of United Group, marked a significant achievement by securing a spot in the prestigious top 10 ranking of the World Teleport Association (WTA) for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition confirms the company's sustained growth in offering satellite services to business clients in the international market and solidifies its position among the fastest-growing companies in the world. The ranking is based on revenue growth.
The visit is part of the telecom's unique educational initiative, organized jointly with the Technical University – Sofia. The Academy is aimed at 3rd and 4th-year students from the “Computer Systems and Technologies” and “Telecommunications and Electronics” majors, connecting academic knowledge with real-world business through lectures, mentorship, and practical sessions led by 20 leading experts at Vivacom.
