The "Internships 2025" Forum was held at the Technical University – Sofia (TU – Sofia) for the thirteenth consecutive year, the university reports.
The opening of the "Internships 2025" Forum was attended by the Rector of TU – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov, vice-rectors, faculty members and students, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Technical University – Sofia, Vasil Velev, the Director of the IBM Bulgaria Innovation Center, Dimitar Bairev, and Svetoslava Simeonova, a doctoral student at TU – Sofia and a Bulgarian youth delegate to the UN – New York.
The Forum in Plovdiv was opened by the Vice-Rector for International Activities and Integration, Prof. Dr. Eng. Lidia Galabova, who described the career fair as an opportunity for students to find practical orientation for the knowledge acquired at the university. Prof. Galabova welcomed the business representatives who participated in the career forum and recalled that cooperation between the university and companies is not limited to organizing such forums. She noted that many companies are directly involved in the training of students in the bachelor's and master's programs of the Technical University – Sofia, invest in laboratory equipment, and donate equipment. In this way, students are trained in the real requirements of the labor market, using the most modern machines and technologies, which makes the university graduates highly sought-after personnel, adds Prof. Galabova. In addition, she stated that evidence of successful joint work is that between 50 and 60 percent of engineers in large companies in Bulgaria are graduates of the Technical University – Sofia.
52 of the largest employers in the country participated in this year's edition of the "Internships 2025" Forum and at the Plovdiv Branch of the Technical University – Sofia, TU – Sofia reports.
The Director of the Plovdiv Branch of TU – Sofia, Assoc. Prof. Nikola Shakev, also welcomed the participants of the "Internships 2025 Forum" and wished for fruitful collaboration with the business community to create a unified ecosystem, enabling students to achieve the best professional realization. Students conducted on-site interviews, which helped them navigate the labor market, gain experience in the internship application process, and assess their chances for a successful career.
Forums such as this one demonstrate that graduates of TU – Sofia are sought-after and desirable professionals, serving as evidence of the numerous opportunities for their professional development. The Rectorate and faculty of TU – Sofia daily monitor and take pride in the achievements of students, some of whom are already top managers in major Bulgarian and global corporations. Contacts with many of them are maintained through the university's Alumni network. The educational process at the Technical University – Sofia meets the needs and requirements of the business sector. There are joint training programs with numerous companies, such as the one with IBM, and emphasis is placed on stable collaboration between the academic community and business. Joint work with industry helps establish modern laboratories at TU – Sofia, while modern education stimulates student preparation so that outcomes closely follow the needs of the modern world and requirements for high-tech development. A priority in the university's education remains the establishment of new specialties that address today's challenges in rapidly developing sectors – artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the IT sector, and many others, the university further states.
