Over 70% of the applying students take their first steps in their careers at Vivacom. 13 students from the Technical University of Sofia successfully completed the 15th anniversary edition of the Vivacom Technical Academy. The program is a unique partnership between a telecom operator and the Technical University of Sofia, providing young specialists with a unique opportunity to learn from excellent professionals in the fastest-growing telecom in Bulgaria.
At the Academy, students get acquainted with the latest technological solutions in telecommunications worldwide, which motivates them to build on their knowledge and become even better.
"The Vivacom Technical Academy is proof that when we invest energy, vision, and persistence, the results exceed expectations. With each subsequent edition, we build on what we have achieved – this year, with the Hackathon, we took another step forward, demonstrating how innovation and practice go hand in hand. The fact that over 100 participants over the years have already become part of Vivacom as interns shows the career opportunities the program provides to students in the world of telecommunications," commented Nikolai Gavrilov, Chief Technical Officer of Vivacom.
On the occasion of the anniversary edition, the Academy was enhanced with the first-of-its-kind Hackathon, dedicated to the theme of Smart City. In it, 11 participants, divided into 3 teams, developed projects for smart city solutions, demonstrating creativity, technological thinking, and teamwork. And from the start of the program until now, over 320 students have passed through the Vivacom Technical Academy, having acquired valuable practical experience and accumulated knowledge thanks to their participation in real business projects at the company.
"The Vivacom Technical Academy is not just training; it is a platform for growth, for creating opportunities in a supportive environment, and for finding direction in the professional world.. Over 40% of participants start working at the company every year, which reinforces the effectiveness of the program for upgrading education and business," said Malina Chavdarova, Director of Human Resources at Vivacom.
Within the framework of two academic semesters, participants went through 9 carefully selected courses, led by 20 experts from Vivacom and lecturers from the Technical University of Sofia, covering key topics from telecommunications practice – from Software Products and Databases to Project Management, Business Etiquette, Legal Framework, Technical English, and others.
"I congratulate all participants on the successful completion of the 15th edition of the Vivacom Technical Academy. The students proved that combining theory and practice yields impressive solutions. Thank you to Vivacom for the expertise, mentorship, and open opportunities – our partnership is an example of how innovations are accelerated when business and education work together. Today, we are not putting an end, but rather a beginning to new projects, internships, and joint activities," stated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Agata Manolova, Dean of the Faculty of Telecommunications at TU – Sofia.
Within the framework of the program, students had the opportunity to visit key facilities of Vivacom – the "Teleport Plan" satellite communications facility, the Network and Services Management Center, as well as Tech Hall – a laboratory where intelligent technological solutions are presented and tested in a real environment.
