219 graduates from the 2023 Graduation of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation from the Plovdiv branch of the Technical University received their diplomas today. 137 bachelors and 82 masters donned the traditional gowns and put on academic caps for the ceremonial event, which took place in the courtyard of III-rd academic building of the higher education institution.
The ceremony was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation, Assoc. Prof. Krasimir Ambarev, who congratulated the graduates for their efforts during the years of study and wished them successful realization.
There are 36 top students of the faculty, 12 of whom received a gold or silver medal for showing high results during their studies and a success above 5.50. The distinctions, awarded by the Academic Council of the Technical University-Sofia, were presented by the director of the Plovdiv branch, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Nikola Shakiev. "I believe that this is a new beginning for all of you, which will be successful both in personal and professional terms. Remember that you will always remain part of the Technical University and are welcome here - both as accomplished specialists and as a community of alumni" - addressed the graduated engineers Assoc. Prof. Nikola Shakiev.
The top graduate of the master's cohort is Haralampios Theodoridis, who graduated in the specialization "Aeronautical Engineering and Technology" with a grade of 5.96. Among the bachelor's graduates, Valentina Babarova from the specialization "Design and Print Communications" was first, graduating from the university with an excellent grade of 5.80.
19 graduates, distinguished as top students in their respective specializations, were awarded one-time monetary scholarships. The graduates are from all nine specializations of the faculty. A large number of the graduated engineers are already building their careers in major enterprises around Plovdiv. Many partner companies of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation were among the official guests of the event to award the graduates in their respective specializations.
By tradition, the solemn ceremony concluded with the symbolic throwing of academic caps into the sky and a group photo for memory.
