A total of 27 laureates were selected at the XL National Olympiad in Technical Drawing. The National Professional Gymnasium for Precision Engineering and Optics "M.V. Lomonosov" – Sofia, the capital's Professional Gymnasium for Transport and Energy "Henry Ford", as well as the PPMPG "Nancho Popovich" – Shumen, had the most representatives among them. Representatives of the "Dr. Petar Beron" Secondary School – Kostinbrod, and the PGMET "Gen. Ivan Bucharov" – Sevlievo were also among the winners.
The participants had to solve tasks in three groups – left view and dimensioning based on given front and top views of a solid body, sketching a detail based on a given axonometric view, detailing from a drawing of the general view, and geometric constructions in a detail drawing using AutoCAD.
"Technical sciences and the training of engineers are at the core of successful economic development", said Marieta Georgieva, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, in her welcome address to the participants of the Olympiad. The Technical University – Sofia and the "M.V. Lomonosov" Gymnasium hosted the event. Deputy Minister Georgieva was impressed that girls performed equally well with boys, which is not typical for these professions.
"This is the only subject-specific Olympiad in professional training, and I believe that everyone who seriously engages with these disciplines has first overcome their own desire for an easier path", said Tanya Mihaylova, Engineer, Director of the NPGET "M.V. Lomonosov", addressing the competitors.
