Starting next year, we are developing new specializations - including aerospace engineering, smart manufacturing, and smart cities. They meet the modern requirements of business, which gives our specialists the opportunity to realize themselves in all spheres of society. Moreover, business is also involved in the process of developing curricula. The rule that if a semester is not approved in one subject, a student cannot take exams in others is also abolished. However, to progress after the second year, all exams must be passed. This was stated by the Rector of the Technical University, Eng. Ivan Králov, on the air of "Day Live".
The training at the university is case-based and project-oriented, he explained. "In the first and second years, students receive basic engineering knowledge. In the third, fourth, and master's studies, they continue with focused specialization. Thus, they narrow their specialization and meet modern requirements. The Technical University sets the standards in the field, both in education and in scientific research. We always say that we must teach our students to do what we have not taught them. To think creatively and strive to turn their dreams into reality. An engineer in French means a person who creates, not just repairs and fixes," he stated.
Regarding payment, he mentioned that even starting salaries in the field are above the national average. "In some branches, they reach 7,000 BGN. However, the opportunity for career development is also important. Specialists who teach with us receive up to 20,000 BGN, or even more. Young people are very well motivated, but the overall approach and teamwork also have a noticeable impact," noted Eng. Králov. The higher education institution can also boast of many investments in material infrastructure, including centers of excellence and competence.
According to him, in addition to well-educated technical knowledge, the university also teaches virtues and morality. "To be able to use their knowledge for the good of society. In recent years, at TUT, we have made a number of changes in the field of educational technologies, introducing new broad-profile interdisciplinary specializations. An example of this in the bachelor's course is the creation of specializations such as cybersecurity, intelligent systems, artificial intelligence, and data analysis," revealed the rector.
