With pride and emotion, we officially announce the successful completion of Hack TUES X - the tenth anniversary edition of our iconic hackathon. This year, we returned with full force, ready to celebrate not only the event as one of the most significant hackathons in Bulgaria but also the strong connection with our community and the IT industry that support and inspire us.
Hack TUES is not just an event, but a symbol of innovation and education in the field of technology. Its place among UNESCO's innovative practices in the field of technical and vocational education and training makes it an indispensable platform for the development of students and their skills.
From March 13th to 16th, we gathered participants, mentors, sponsors, organizational teams, and special guests to celebrate the tenth birthday of Hack TUES. The event took place in the beautiful setting of the Innovation Forum "John Atanasov" at Sofia Tech Park, where we joyfully and excitedly unfolded the challenges and opportunities for 70 student teams and 12 teams of TUES graduates. We thank everyone who contributed to the success of this unforgettable event and look forward to the challenges we will face in the future.
The scale of the hackathon is huge, so here is Hack TUES X in numbers:

Here are this year's sub-themes:
- Smart School : How do you envision the school of the future? Perhaps without physical textbooks, more interactive activities, accessible both in-person and online? Artificial intelligence as your first assistant, but not a replacement. Interactive classrooms and more opportunities to be eco-friendly while spending time at school. The thematic lecturer who introduced participants to the topic was Lachezar Afrikanov.
- Hack Your Hobby : How would you turn your hobby into something even more intriguing with the technologies you master? From hacking and cybersecurity to art and creativity, every passion can be expanded with new, fun technological enhancements. Where is the boundary between hobby and professional realization, and can your favorite leisure activity become something more? The thematic speaker was Krassimir Kotsev.
- Exploring the Infinite Ocean : Did you know that the ocean is actually a territory less explored even than space? In the vast aquatic world lie answers to questions related to overfishing, habitat destruction, loss of biodiversity, climate change, and pollution. Our challenge is to discover innovative solutions to these problems that currently threaten our marine environment. Through technology and innovation, we can find ways to preserve and restore marine ecosystems, ensuring their sustainability for future generations. The speaker was Iliana Stoilova.
Participants include 364 students, divided into 70 teams composed of current students, as well as 12 teams of graduated students. Each team is provided with an individual mentor who guides and assists them in generating and implementing their ideas.

Hack TUES X concluded on 16.03.2023, on which day the teams submitted their developed projects.
Competition format:
Semi-finals - 7 parallel semi-finals with 10 teams each, judged by a five-member jury, with one team from each advancing to the finals.
The final - a 12-member jury selected the winners among 15 teams.
The official conclusion of Hack TUES X was marked by an exciting awards ceremony, filled with numerous prizes and recognition for the work of all teams.
All nine previous organizational teams received special invitations, without whom Hack TUES X would not have reached this enormous scale. Each team was invited on stage and surprised with special glass plaques featuring the design of their respective edition.
After an incredible competition, the winners of Hack TUES X were announced. And who are they?

"Some of the reasons why TUES is such a good example of a school connected to real life and the future of technology lie in the fact that students can work with professionals on real projects," stated Deputy Minister of Education Natalia Miteva.
"A sustainable tradition that leads to our society having a strong technical elite, having engineering knowledge and thought, and thus moving forward!", shared Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov.
"Hack TUES is the emblem of our school; each of us asks the question 'When will the dates of Hack TUES be and what will the theme be?' from the beginning of the academic year. I have followed the growth of the hackathon and now eagerly await what will happen at the tenth anniversary edition! I expect an explosion of new ideas, opportunities, and achieved peaks, much creativity from your side!", said the Director of TUES - Veselka Hristova.
"The organization of the hackathon - this symbiosis has been continuing and developing for almost 10 years. I want to welcome all participants and tell them that they are already winners simply by participating in this hackathon, because they have the courage and desire to develop and show their creativity to everyone, regardless of who is awarded and who is not" - shared Radostina Gercheva, Chair of the Board of Trustees of A-TUES.
"I am extremely happy that we launched the tenth anniversary edition of the emblematic hackathon for TUES, organized by students for students. I am even happier that this year, at the tenth anniversary edition, we have 12 teams of graduated students. I don't know if you are aware, but the year 2024 is actually under the sign of the Olympic Games. Some claim that the Olympic principle is 'Participation is what matters.' In fact, the Olympic principle states 'The most important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle; the important thing is not to have won, but to have fought well.' We all eagerly anticipate what the projects will be and sincerely believe that there will be cooperation and respect among the participants! For us, everyone who dared to register is a winner. I wish you lots of code, teamwork, and cool developments" - shared Kirilka, Executive Director of the Association of TUES Graduates.
