The official opening of the "Sofia week" meeting took place at the National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies at the Technical University (TU) in Sofia, attended by over 100 representatives of the nine member institutions of the European Technological University EUt+, the university announced.
The Rector of TU-Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, opened the working meeting with the words: "The goal of the European Technological University is to become one of the best European university alliances, a large European family of partners and friends that will create the technical elite of the future. Education and knowledge are the best investment; they give strength and independence. Young people must dream and turn their dreams into reality, working for the benefit of society; this is our mission, to give them the knowledge and skills to cope with the challenges of today and tomorrow."
Prof. Dr. Eng. Lidia Galbova, Deputy Rector for International Activities and Integration, presented the scientific research activities of TU-Sofia in the context of the European Technological University. She emphasized that work is underway on a new model, expanding the range of scientific fields and research topics, creating international teams, and following the principles, goals, and values of EUt+. "The aim of TU-Sofia is to become a recognizable and competitive research and educational center within the European Technological University," she added.
Timothée Touré, Secretary General of the European Technological University EUt+, informed the meeting participants about the goals, tasks, and the new way of working during the second phase of the project.
The "Sofia week" working meeting continues until March 1. The forum will encourage the creation of an open, intercultural, and interdisciplinary academic community dedicated to shaping a new European model of higher education based on scientific research.
In the second phase of integration, the EUT+ alliance commits to creating educational programs at all levels that will reflect mutually agreed values and high standards of education. Part of the efforts will be directed towards building the capacity of academic staff through various masterclasses covering different areas—from project management skills to the development and implementation of artificial intelligence-based research analysis tools. This collaborative work aims to harmonize and develop a common plan that will serve as the basis for a modern strategy for research and innovation within the alliance.
The European Technological University continues its core efforts to strengthen the links between science and society through the creation of human-centric technologies. The "Sofia week" forum testifies to the collective spirit that drives the EUt+ alliance towards shaping the future of higher education and scientific research in Europe.
As BTA reported, the Technical University of Sofia will host the working meeting "Sofia week" of the representatives of the nine members of the European Technological University EUt+: Technological University - Troyes (France), coordinator; TU-Sofia; University of Applied Sciences - Darmstadt (Germany); Technological University - Dublin (Ireland); Riga Technical University (Latvia); Technical University - Cluj-Napoca (Romania); Polytechnic University - Cartagena (Spain); Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus); University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Italy).
