

On January 17, the Sofia week forum of the European University of Technology (EUt+) was opened. Over 80 participants from the eight European universities – partners in EUt+ – met in the "Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov" Hall at the National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies. At the official ceremony, the Rector of the Technical University – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, emphasized that most representatives of the European University of Technology EUt+ were visiting Sofia for the first time and wished the participants successful and fruitful work, highlighting the important role of the EUt+ project for the development of technologies, science, and engineering education in the European Union. Prof. Králov pointed out that the meeting is important because important documents for the future work of the project will be signed in Sofia. The Technical University – Sofia is one of the eight founding members of the European University of Technology EUt+, a new type of institution on a confederal basis, created with the vision "Think first for the person," fully oriented towards people and the approach to modern technologies. In implementation of one of the leading EU initiatives for building a European educational space, the European University of Technology EUt+ promotes European values, identity, and above all, the revolution in the quality and competitiveness of European higher education. Its main mission is to contribute to the well-being of society, and its students to become technologically literate professionals and responsible European citizens. The development of a European vision for technologies, which is of essential importance for the development of the European project, must become a reality for the students and staff of EUt+. The partners of the EUt+ consortium are:
- Technical University – Sofia, Bulgaria;
- Cyprus University of Technology, in Cyprus;
- Troyes University of Technology, France;
- Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Germany;
- Dublin Technological University, Ireland;
- Riga Technical University, Latvia;
- Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania;
- Cartagena Polytechnic University, Spain.
The key activities and results of EUt+ are: - European bachelor's degrees and European dual programs, through promoting structured mobility; - European master's degrees in engineering sciences, through promoting structured mobility; - a common European laboratory (ECT+ Lab) on the issues of technologies, their nature and function in society, their connections with the arts, humanities and social sciences; - EUt+ Foundation, which supports fundraising at both general and project levels; - proficiency in at least one European language at the bachelor's level and at least two at the master's level. Partner universities are transformed through: - a roadmap for full integration – from union, through confederation to federation; - implementation of common management and coordination structures at all levels of university activities; - interoperable functioning of information systems of partner universities; - a common brand, with unified internal and external communication strategies; - a large set of common key performance indicators aimed at ensuring convergence at all levels and high quality of processes. The Sofia week program of EUt+ includes meetings between partners by work packages and various social events are planned to familiarize with Bulgarian life and culture.
