A scientific and pedagogical conference on the topic “Technologies and techniques for supporting sustainable education in the academic sphere” took place at the Technical University in the capital (TU-Sofia). This was reported by the higher education institution on its website. The forum was held in the conference hall of the “National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies” in the “Student City” campus. The organizer is the Department of Foreign Language Education and Applied Linguistics at TU-Sofia. The rector of the Technical University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, the Deputy Rector for Scientific and Applied Activities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Lidia Gálbova, the Director of the Department of Foreign Language Education and Applied Linguistics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivaylo Peev, and the Director of the British Council in Sofia, Ms. Lyubov Kostova, attended the opening of the conference. The scientific and pedagogical conference “Technologies and techniques for supporting sustainable education in the academic sphere” is organized jointly with the Technological University Dublin (TU-Dublin), which is a partner in the EUt+ project and part of the initiatives of the Laboratory for Pedagogical Applied Research and Student-Centered Learning (ELaRa), part of the “European University Institute (EUt+)” project. The goal of the two-day forum is to initiate and present a fruitful dialogue between teachers, students, doctoral candidates, scientists, and researchers, and to become a free forum for promoting their views and opinions in the context of sustainable development and a learner-centered approach. Special attention was paid on the first day to the further interpretation of teaching experience gained in a digital environment, the sharing and application of good practices, as well as the proposal of working solutions for their sustainable integration. The development of new and the improvement of known pedagogical and methodological models, integrating digital technologies as an indispensable part of pedagogical interaction in the 21st century, were discussed. The organizers believe that this ensures the necessary continuity between past achievements, knowledge, and experience, on the one hand, and future scientific research, on the other. The thematic scope of the scientific and pedagogical conference addresses current issues regarding the relationship between traditional and innovative pedagogy and the role of the doctoral candidate in the contemporary educational and scientific research process in the digital age.
