

Bulgaria's ambition to establish itself as an energy hub in our region must be built on the implementation of new innovative and eco-friendly technologies. This was stated by President Rumen Radev at a meeting at "Dundukov" 2, dedicated to the possibilities for generating and storing energy from renewable sources in our country, the press secretary of the head of state reported. The Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov, Deputy Minister of Energy Elenko Bozhkov, the rectors of the University of Mining and Geology and the Technical University - Sofia, Prof. Ivelin Koprrev and Prof. Ivan Králov, as well as Prof. Georgi Todorov, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technologies and Head of the "National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies" at TU - Sofia, participated in the discussion. "Countries that manage to achieve rational solutions for energy storage will hold the key to the future of energy," the head of state pointed out. According to him, our country has all the natural endowments necessary for eco-friendly energy generation and storage, and long-term vision and timely solutions in this direction are needed. The head of state emphasized that the Maritsa basin should continue to be the energy hub of Bulgaria through the implementation and deployment of new technologies, while preserving the employment of workers in the energy sector. The participants in the meeting were unanimous that Bulgaria has the prospect of producing and storing clean energy at competitive prices, and the state should not abdicate its commitment to ensure the independence of the Bulgarian energy sector from external factors. The President expressed confidence that in dialogue with the Ministry of Energy, the research of leading Bulgarian universities on effective solutions in energy will continue.
