

The United Technical College in Sofia and the Technical College in Kazanlak are merging into a Technical College within the structure of the Technical University of Sofia, the Council of Ministers informed. The decree on the transformation was adopted by the Council of Ministers at the request of the rector of the higher education institution. It was made based on a decision of the academic council and with a positive assessment from the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation, the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) reported. The goal of merging the two colleges into one main unit is to consolidate the structures and reduce the administrative burden, thereby optimizing financial costs, improving the quality of education and the conditions for the development of the academic staff. The locations where student education is currently taking place will not change with the merger. The bases in Kazanlak, Botevgrad, Kozloduy and Sofia are retained. The professional directions and specialties for which students are preparing to obtain the degree of "professional bachelor in..." will also not change. Education will be provided by academic staff on a main employment contract at the Technical University - Sofia, organized into two departments. Leading specialists from industrial enterprises have also been involved in specialized practical training. The capacity of the unit, approved by the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation, is for a total of 760 students in specialties from the professional directions "Mechanical Engineering", "Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation" and "Energy".
