

Nearly 50 scientists from various research institutions, led by Thracian University – Stara Zagora, gathered for the annual report of the National Scientific Program "Intelligent Animal Husbandry". They reported excellent results in the scientific work packages and the ambitious tasks set for innovations in animal breeding and rearing. Some of the achievements reached at this stage include the development of prototypes, patents, 3D models, specialized services for intelligent and efficient animal husbandry; publications in specialized journals (including in the top 10 of the Thompson-Reuters WoS ranking); organization of events in a highly specialized environment and equipment; active work with young scientists and researchers; submitted project proposals to the Scientific Research Fund, "Erasmus+" and "Horizon Europe". The working teams of the National Scientific Program "Intelligent Animal Husbandry" share experience, accumulated knowledge, and outline new perspectives. "We are confidently making follow-up plans, firmly based on teamwork and good collaboration, concrete results and scientific achievements, and innovation driven by the needs of the real sector," said the initiators of the forum. Based on the results already achieved, the National Scientific Program "Intelligent Animal Husbandry" is ready to build upon the defined goals and priorities for the implementation of intelligent solutions in the animal husbandry sector. Thracian University reminds that in March 2021, the National Scientific Program "Intelligent Animal Husbandry" was launched, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science. Thracian University heads the consortium, composed of leading academic institutions in Bulgaria: University of Agriculture – Plovdiv; Technical University – Sofia; Ruse University "Angel Kanchev"; Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at BAS; Institute of Mechanics at BAS; Institute of Biology and Immunology of Reproduction "Acad. Kiril Bratanov"; Academy of Agriculture. The main goal of the scientific program is to conduct fundamental and applied research to provide the animal husbandry sector with innovative methods and tools for intelligent and efficient animal husbandry with reduced human resources and reduced impact on the environment.
