The partnership announced today is for a period of 10 years.
The partnership between Bosch and TU-Sofia will provide students with training in artificial intelligence.
Bosch Engineering Center Sofia (ECS) will actively participate in the educational process of the new multidisciplinary bachelor's program in "Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence" – a joint project of the Faculty of Mechanical-Technological Engineering and the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics at the Technical University – Sofia. Experts from the Center will train students in a specially created practical module in the fourth year, focusing on "Intelligent Technologies for the Automotive Industry." In addition, ECS will assist in providing the necessary learning environment and will fully equip a high-tech laboratory on the premises of the Faculty of Mechanical-Technological Engineering. The Center will also provide sensors for autonomous vehicles, computing modules and computers, actuators, and equipment. Under the agreement signed today between Bosch Engineering Center Sofia and TU-Sofia, a three-week pre-graduation internship for fourth-year students at Bosch Engineering Center Sofia is also planned. The educational program for the new bachelor's program at the Technical University will start in the fall of 2022, aiming to provide graduates with knowledge in computer science and mathematics necessary for practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI), as well as up-to-date knowledge of the latest technologies in the field. The specialty can be studied in both Bulgarian and English. The partnership between the Center and the University is set for 10 years. The training for the specialty is aligned with the requirements and needs of the modern fourth-generation ICT industry (Industry 4.0) and covers the most current tools and digital technologies, virtual engineering, internet and cloud technologies, and engineering information management. The training is also aligned with the educational and research programs of leading European universities in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, etc. "The IT sector in Bulgaria is one of the few in which we are competitive on a global scale. To preserve and develop this potential, Bosch is actively involved in the process of modernizing the education system and in creating future specialists for the industry. Our agreement with the Technical University – Sofia is a step in this direction," said Konstantin Konov, General Director of Robert Bosch and representative of the Bosch Group in Bulgaria. "I believe that this project will contribute to improving the qualifications of future engineers and, in this way, will open a new horizon for their successful professional realization in today's global competitive environment," said the Rector of TU-Sofia – Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov. Since its establishment in the spring of 2019, Bosch Engineering Center Sofia has grown significantly and is currently continuing to hire software engineers and hardware specialists. Recently, the first academy of the Center for training software engineers – Bosch ECS Career Camp – launched, under the mentorship of professionals in the field of software development and testing. Dual training, internship programs, and collaboration with universities are part of the good long-term practices of Bosch Engineering Center Sofia.
