

The Executive Board of the National Representation of Student Councils in Bulgaria held its first meeting for the 2022-2024 term. At the meeting, upon the proposal of the President of the NRS – Daniel Parushev, three deputy presidents were elected:
- Alexander Uzunov from the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St. St. Cyril and Methodius";
- Dorothea Nikolayeva from the Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar"
- Yozlem Kuldzhieva from the Medical University – Plovdiv.
A novelty is that they will be without portfolios, as their main function is to be as fully informed as possible about the overall activities of the representation and to be ready to react at any time. Confidence was voted for Konstantina Karakadiyeva from the Medical University – Pleven as the General Secretary of the organization, and Stanimir Boyadzhiev from the Ruse University was re-elected as the leader of the General Assemblies of the NRS.
The structure of the organization was supplemented by five portfolio advisors, upon the proposal of the President of the NRS, who will develop activities in five areas of paramount importance for student self-government and the operational efficiency of the representation.
This composition includes:
- Angel Stoykov from the University of National and World Economy – advisor for scientific research activities;
- Bozhidar Kasabov from Medical University "Prof. Paraskev Stoyanov" – advisor on healthcare;
- Lidia Daskalova from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" – advisor on social and living conditions of students;
- Petar Stefanov from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts "Prof. Asen Diamandiev" – advisor on cultural and mass events;
- Stanimir Boyadzhiev from Ruse University "Angel Kanchev" – advisor on international activities and cooperation.
With an exceptional presence from 48 higher education institutions – 46 in person and 2 in an online environment, the General Assembly of the National Representation of Student Councils elected on February 19, 2022, a Chairman for the 2022-2024 term. Daniel Parushev is the new Chairman of the NRSC, which the organization elected at its reporting and electoral assembly, held in the hall of the National Student House in Sofia. He received the full support of all delegates at the General Assembly.
Within the framework of the Reporting and Electoral Assembly, a new Executive Council was elected, which will support the work of the Chairman and manage the operational activities of the organization. Members of the collective body are:
1. Daniel Parushev – representative of the University of National and World Economy, who as Chairman of the NRSC enters by right.
2. Delyan Plachkov – Higher School of Agribusiness and Regional Development.
3. Nora Angelova – University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy.
4. Simona Mihaylova – International Business School.
5. Iliyan Kordov – Technical University – Sofia.
6. Maya Minkova – University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski".
7. Victoria Paligirova – Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski".
8. Rozaliya Kneva – Technical University – Varna.
9. Preslava Petranova – National Academy of Arts.
The General Assembly of the NASS also appointed a Control Council for the organization, which will monitor the legality of decisions and all activities related to the work. Its composition is as follows:
1. Martina Stoyanova – Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
2. Stoyan Ivanov – New Bulgarian University.
3. Stanislava Rizova – National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov".
4. Stela Hadzhieva – D. Tsenev Economic Academy.
5. Veselina Stefanova – Technical University - Gabrovo.
Within the mandate, the leadership of the NASS decided to open a new unit responsible for media coverage of the organization's activities and student councils. Emilia Hinkova from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy was appointed as editor-in-chief of the media. Simona Mihaylova from the International Business School and Nora Angelova from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy were selected as representatives in the team responsible for the organization's international contacts within the European Student Union. Other topics discussed at the meeting included support for Ukrainian students in Bulgaria, renovation works in student dormitories, and the sending of invitations from student councils at each higher education institution to the NASS for visiting a booth to promote the representation among students. Two upcoming events for the organization in the coming weeks were also commented on, namely the Winter University and Student of the Year.
