"According to the regulations that were challenged, seven rectors have been elected since 1996. Similar regulations exist in other universities. It provides for voting for more than one candidate in the first round. This does not violate the balance of votes or the right to vote, because everyone can vote for anyone. However, the court has ruled and we must respect the decision, under which the mandate of the currently elected rector, Prof. Ivan Králov, is annulled, not terminated." This was explained to BNR by Prof. Georgi Todorov, Chairman of the General Assembly of the Technical University of Sofia. The Supreme Administrative Court annulled the election of the rector of the Technical University of Sofia, which took place at the end of 2019, following a complaint by one of the five candidates for the post at that time. Prof. Todorov announced in the program "Something More" that within a month he will convene the General Assembly and an election for rector will be held, with the regulations being amended in accordance with the court's decision. "The court's decision is not retroactive, so Prof. Králov's decisions will not be challenged." According to him, there is a legal situation and he finds the entire interest in the case surprising. There is nothing that worries anyone," he assured. You can listen to the interview with Prof. Georgi Todorov in the audio file.
