The Executive Director of the Energy System Operator, Angelin Tachev, and the Rector of the Technical University of Sofia, Prof. Ivan Králov, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the exchange of personnel and ensuring career development for students from the higher education institution within the structures of the ESO. The Memorandum aims to deepen joint work between Bulgaria's independent transmission system operator and the Technical University of Sofia in the field of personnel exchange and the development of research activities. "The modern realities and the goals of achieving carbon neutrality in the European and national economies necessitate even closer collaboration with academic and scientific communities. The new generation of energy specialists, represented by the personnel being trained in higher education institutions in our country and abroad, are the bearers of innovative knowledge that will ensure the successful achievement of the EU's climate goals," emphasized the Executive Director of the ESO, Angelin Tachev, during the signing of the memorandum. "At the end of September, the program of the Energy System Operator for paid summer internships for students from universities in our country and abroad was successfully completed. I am pleased to note that a large number of the students who interned with us this summer were from the Technical University of Sofia." The cooperation between the ESO and higher technical institutions, and specifically with the Technical University of Sofia, has long-standing traditions. Many of the experts employed by the independent transmission operator are graduates of the Technical University of the capital. "For the Energy System Operator, the capital's technical university is a leading generator of personnel," pointed out Angelin Tachev. "To achieve the goals of the Green Deal, policies in this direction must go hand in hand with technology. The Technical University is an established center for training highly qualified personnel, and with their skills, they will support efforts to achieve climate neutrality," said the Rector of the Technical University, Prof. Ivan Králov, at the signing of the Memorandum. The cooperation between the ESO and higher education institutions is an active tool for preparing the necessary personnel for the sector, as well as a link between business and academic education in response to the modern needs of the energy industry for highly qualified specialists. The Memorandum is aimed at creating opportunities for students from the Technical University of Sofia to gain practical experience within the structures of the ESO. The independent transmission system operator and the higher education institution will also partner in conducting joint research in the field of electrical engineering.
