

The Technical University – Sofia will open the new academic year 2021/2022 on September 27 (Monday), the university announced. In order to limit the spread of COVID-19, the opening will take place with separate ceremonies by faculty, in compliance with the anti-epidemic measures prescribed by the Ministry of Health. The academic leadership of TU also decided that classes will start in a hybrid format. As a rule, lectures will be conducted in an electronic environment, but on-site attendance in classrooms is also allowed, at the discretion of the head of the main unit and provided that the number of attendees and the capacity of the room are in line with the restrictions imposed by health authorities. Laboratory, seminar exercises and other practical classes will be conducted on-site in classrooms, in compliance with the existing anti-epidemic measures, and under the same conditions, exams and diploma defenses will also be conducted on-site. This year, the technological university reports a successful admissions campaign, as a result of which the number of admitted students has increased significantly. The increased interest of applicants in the offered 32 bachelor's programs and over 65 master's programs is due to the high quality of education, the opportunity to acquire modern knowledge and skills, and excellent prospects for professional realization. TU – Sofia is even more attractive to young people because it is one of the creators of the European Technological University EUt+, an alliance of eight leading European partners, so students in the future will receive a European higher education and a European diploma. The Technical University – Sofia, with its modern material and technical base, offers its students very good conditions for study and greater opportunities for involvement in research activities. As recognition for the development of the academic staff and for high research results, TU – Sofia received from the Ministry of Education and Science the status of a research university and as such will receive additional targeted funding for the development of scientific activities.
