For Space, the Moon, the planets: Bulgarian children spoke with astronauts from the ISS nova.bg Bulgarian children have the unique opportunity to speak with astronauts from the International Space Station. The initiative is by the Atlantic Club, which this year marks its 30th anniversary. The event "Hello, Space! Bulgaria is Speaking!" started early this morning with lectures and presentations. The students met with physics teacher Teodosiy Teodosiev, with students from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Our first cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov and the US Ambassador Hero Mustafa are also guests at the event. At the center of the Bulgarian space July 26 is the inspirer of the idea Solomon Passi. Dr. Angel Apostolov, Director of "Space Archives" - Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, shared in the show "Day Live with Nadelyna Aneva" on NOVA NEWS that the initiative was born more than a year ago. "For the first time in Europe, such an event with children is being held, this has happened in the USA, usually such conversations are with specialists on a specific topic," he said. According to him, science is beginning to lag behind what is happening in Space. He informed that space research leads to many things we use - GPS, scanning technology, mobile phones, and a number of everyday items. "The further we look into Space, the more it will be a mark of developed countries," Angel Apostolov was categorical and added that Space is already becoming something extremely close and we cannot afford to lag behind these processes. In the show, Assoc. Prof. Milena Krumova, organizer of the NASA Space Apps Challenge, stated that this topic is important for children because it makes them dream and be what they want, directing them towards science, mathematics. "Young people who participate in competitions of this type become more confident, more creative and more successful," she added. For Assoc. Prof. Milena Krumova, sooner or later there will be a new Bulgarian in Space, as initiatives in education contribute to this, but she stated that nothing is achieved with just a dream, but it is realized with serious education and hard work. "The educational process should have diverse activities, not only reading, but asking, answers, experiments, research, setting goals, asking specific questions," Milena Krumova also said and concluded that the engine for achieving new things is high goals. The US Ambassador to Bulgaria Hero Mustafa wished the attending children to get very close to the ISS and never stop striving for the stars.
