The draft of the National Map of Higher Education in the Republic of Bulgaria, which has already been published for a 30-day public discussion on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science, lists the 7 fields of study in our universities that are most sought after by both applicants and employers. These are Pharmacy, Medicine, Informatics and Computer Science, Public Health, Nursing, Dentistry, and Theory and Management of Education. 38,850 students are studying in these fields, which is only 18%. Among the fields with a high degree of employment for graduates but insufficient demand from applicants is Mathematics. Despite this statistic, the state-funded places at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics are filled without any problems. According to the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Desislava Ivanova, this is a result of both traditionally high teaching quality standards and the multi-layered and multi-spectrum partnership between IT companies and the faculty. This partnership is implemented in various directions - from the active participation of company representatives in developing curricula and programs and the participation of IT business representatives in the educational process for the specialty "Informatics and Software Science" - for bachelor's and master's students - in subjects such as Cloud Technologies and Services, Big Data Analytics, and IoT, Parallel Information Processing, and many others, to organizing various joint initiatives specifically aimed at students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, such as Open Days, competitions, internships, practicums, and formulating joint research assignments. An excellent example of applying the "education-science-business" cooperation model, which is extremely important for the high quality of training future IT specialists in accordance with labor market requirements and an excellent prerequisite for the successful implementation of future IT talents at the national and European levels, is the golden partnership between FAMI and the IT company Experian. It is called golden because, for unreserved support and active joint work over the years, by decision of the Faculty Council of FAMI, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Desislava Ivanova presented the "Golden Medal of TU - Sofia" to Eng. Ivan Rusev, Manager of R&D and Educational Relations at Experian, a graduate of TU - Sofia, on 17.06.2021. Students from the specialties "Applied Mathematics and Informatics" and "Informatics and Software Science" also received awards and certificates for their significant contribution to the educational process and research work of the faculty. The faculty and the company have been actively partnering since 2017, when the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics launched the newest field of study "Informatics and Computer Science" and one of the most sought-after specialties "Informatics and Software Science" at the Technical University - Sofia.
