The redevelopment in the "Istok" district leads to the problem of a lack of parking spaces. According to Assoc. Prof. Durkhan Saliev from the Department of "Engines, Automotive Engineering and Transport" at the Technical University of Sofia, the introduction of one-way streets can solve the traffic and parking problems in the neighborhoods: "If the regulations in the Regulatory Framework are followed, we should be able to handle the cars. There is another problem - not always one space designated for one car is enough," said Assoc. Prof. Durkhan Saliev on the air of Radio Sofia. One-way traffic is introduced at a certain street width. "For a street to be one-way, so-called loops must be provided. One-way traffic is possible after the necessary studies have been conducted. This also increases the number of parking spaces," added Assoc. Prof. Saliev. When residents wish for a pedestrian walkway to be made in front of their building, they need to submit an application to the respective district administration, said Assoc. Prof. Durkhan Saliev. "Then it must be assessed whether it is possible, both documentarily and physically, to make a pedestrian walkway. And whether it is necessary? Specialists may determine that it is not appropriate to have a pedestrian walkway there," said the expert. You can hear the details in the interview of Petia Kalnakova with Assoc. Prof. Durkhan Saliev.
