The ninth edition of "Become a CEZ Scholar" honored the most successful graduates of vocational high schools in Western Bulgaria with an electrical engineering profile. Two twelfth-grade students from each of the following schools became winners of the ninth edition of the "Become a CEZ Scholar" competition for students: PGET "Henry Ford" – Sofia, BPG "Ichko Boychev" – Blagoevgrad, and PGET "Hristo Botev" – Montana. They receive scholarships for the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year in the amount of 600 leva and the opportunity to apply with their competition score to four higher education institutions: Technical University of Sofia, College of Energy and Electronics, University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski", and Higher Transport College "T. Kableshkov". This year, the final third round of the competition was held online on 16.04.2021, in full compliance with the anti-epidemic measures in the country. Teams from six vocational high schools with an electrical engineering profile in Western Bulgaria reached this stage: BPG "Ichko Boychev" – Blagoevgrad, PG "Acad. S. P. Korolyov" – Dupnitsa, PGME "N. Y. Vaptsarov" – Sofia, PGET "Henry Ford" – Sofia, PGET "Hr. Botev" – Montana, PTG "N. Y. Vaptsarov" – Vratsa. "First of all, I want to congratulate you for reaching the final of the competition, despite the challenges and conditions under which you prepared for the competition this year. Keep your determination, desire for success, and knowledge. And do not forget, a good team is always part of success," said Karel Kral, Regional Manager of CEZ for Bulgaria, in a congratulatory message broadcast online to participants in the final round. The "Become a CEZ Scholar" competition is one of CEZ's earliest initiatives to promote vocational education in Bulgaria. It started in 2012 as part of the schedule of the Ministry of Education and Science for national vocational competitions. The goal of the competition is to find, support, and motivate talented electrical engineering specialists. Over the years, the program has expanded, and CEZ now also provides scholarships for students, as well as orphans and half-orphans.
