Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" has the largest number of faculty members among all state higher education institutions. This is stated in a written response to a parliamentary question by the Minister of Education and Science, Krastimir Valchev, as cited by BGNES. A total of 1,661 people are employed on a main labor contract at Alma Mater, of whom 45 are over 65 years old. There are a total of 11,739 university teachers on labor contracts nationwide, of whom 787 are over 65 years old. The Technical University of Sofia ranks second in this indicator, where a total of 914 teachers teach students, exactly 100 of whom are over 65 years old. At the Medical University in Plovdiv, there are 759 teachers, - Plovdiv, at Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski" - 634, at Medical University-Sofia - 595, at Veliko Tarnovo University "Sts. Cyril and Methodius" - 486, at Thracian University in Stara Zagora - 476, at South-West University "Neofit Rilski"-Blagoevgrad - 461, at University of National and World Economy (UNWE) - 429, as well as at the Medical University in Pleven. The Higher School of Construction "Lyuben Karavelov" has the fewest teachers - 42.
