Deputy Mayor Dobrin Dobrev of Razgrad Municipality visited KG "Shestte Yastrebicheta" in Razgrad, where the installation of a sensor system for measuring air quality in Razgrad began today. The system includes three stations, each with 6 sensors for different types of pollutants. The other two stations will also be located on the roofs of childcare facilities, but in other districts of the city – KG "Detelina" and CC "Slanchevo Detstvo". The system being installed was developed by the Technical University of Sofia, and the sensors were manufactured in the United Kingdom – explained Assoc. Prof. Rosen Miletev, who presented the system's capabilities to Deputy Mayor Dobrin Dobrev. It measures the concentration of: carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ammonia, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and fine particulate matter. It also records atmospheric conditions – temperature, air humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind direction, and wind speed. The aggregated information from the three stations will be sent to a centralized facility, and residents of Razgrad Municipality will be able to observe it in real time via the Municipality's website through a web address. The site will display both the instantaneous values, which will be updated every 15 seconds, and visualizations in the form of graphs, which will be updated every minute. In fully real time, the graphs will allow comparison of current values with permissible values according to the Bulgarian State Standard. Once a year, the system will undergo maintenance, its warranty period is 2 years, after which it will need to be checked and calibrated. The Technical University's system has been used in the Municipality of Sofia, where the stations were installed on public buses. There is also interest from Razgrad Municipality, which is considering using 5 locations for installing the stations. The system is being implemented in accordance with a decision of the Razgrad Municipal Council. By the end of the week, the publication on the Razgrad Municipality website of the results recorded by the three stations will also start.
