85% of the funding comes from the European Regional Development Fund. At the end of February 2018, the project for the construction of a national Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies started. The goal is to create a new type of center for new achievements, which will become a leading national and competitive scientific structure. "We have set 3 main goals. There are more, but these are the most important. The first is to build a modern scientific infrastructure, and it works with people. The second is to have trained, young, and modern-thinking researchers, and not least, students to have contacts so that they can be trained on the most modern equipment and technologies. And the third goal is to help our business companies here," said Prof. Georgi Todorov. 85% of the funding comes from the European Regional Development Fund, and 15% - national funding. The total value of the project is a little over 69 million BGN. A total of 11 institutes of BAS, SU, University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, TU - Sofia, Gabrovo, and Varna, as well as the Central Laboratory for Applied Chemistry at BAS, are partnering on the project. "We are located in a basic camp to the top. Currently, we are equipping our laboratories with equipment, training specialists, scientists, and researchers to use this equipment," Prof. Todorov added.
More about the construction of the national Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies can be found in the interview with Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Todorov on Bulgaria On Air television here
