1054 students have acquired computer skills since a national program "Training for an IT Career" for training in the profession "Applied Programmer", which is new in the list of professions, started four years ago. It is implemented in cooperation between the IT business, professional high schools and higher education institutions. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science. About 600 students participate in the program every year. The enrollment of students in the professional direction "Computer Science" has doubled in the last two years. 181 of the students who graduated from the Program have stated that they will stay in the country and will study specialties related to IT. 120 of them are already working in IT companies. Two have been included as instructors in the program since October this year. They intend to acquire a professional qualification "teacher" at Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski". The training starts with students from 10th grade in the corresponding academic year, who are not preparing for professions "Programmer", "System Programmer" and "Applied Programmer" and lasts for three years. Five training centers for the program have been created - in Sofia at the Technological University "Electronic Systems" and the Technical University, in Pravets - at the Professional High School of Computer Technologies and Systems and the Technical University, Sofia. In Ruse, the center is at the Professional High School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics "Apostol Arnaudov" and Ruse University "Angel Kanchev". In Plovdiv, the training is at the center at MG "Acad. Kiril Popov" and Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski", and in Burgas - at the Professional High School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics "K. Fotinov" and University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov". Branch groups have been established at the centers in more than 20 settlements, including small ones, such as Chepintsy, Velingrad, Kozluduy, etc., which expands the opportunities for access to training for more interested people. The training materials are developed by a group of experts working in the IT sector together with teachers from secondary and higher education institutions. The developed educational materials are fully available to students and teachers. A Moodle-based platform is used, through which teaching is carried out and the Jude system for checking the developed software. The partners in the national program ensure the organization of internships in companies from the software industry.
