On October 30, 2020, 9 students from the Technical University – Sofia became scholarship recipients of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant. This was announced by the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant. The nuclear power plant signed contracts with Kristian Stoyanov – a fourth-year bachelor's student from the specialty "Thermal Engineering and Nuclear Energy", and with first-year master's students from the specialty "Nuclear Energy" Greta Georgieva, Miroslav Petrov, and Stefan Valkov. For the second consecutive year, in addition to students from the higher years, financial support was also received by first-year students who graduated from high school with high grades and enrolled in full-time studies in the specialty "Thermal Engineering and Nuclear Energy". These are Antonia Velcheva, Denis Stoev, Krasimir Kostov, Paloma Zlatanova, and Tsvetan Yovov. With this, the group of the plant's scholarship recipients, which includes students studying "Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Energy" at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and "Thermal Engineering and Nuclear Energy" at the Technical University – Sofia, has grown to 25. The amount of the scholarship they receive from the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant is 1000 BGN per semester. For young people from previous graduating classes, the plant also covers the semester tuition fees at the value of a state order until the completion of the respective educational degree. For the 2020/2021 academic year, both specialties are included in the list of protected specialties, and those enrolled in them are exempt from tuition fees for the entire course of study – a measure outlining the joint efforts of business, educational, and state institutions to achieve sustainable results in attracting young people to fields with an expected shortage in the labor market. All scholarship recipients of the NPP can participate in the paid summer internship program to deepen their knowledge and gain practical experience in their chosen profession, and after completing their studies, they will have the chance to start their careers as part of the nuclear power plant team. By encouraging young people eager to acquire the specialized knowledge required for work in the nuclear industry, the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant aims to ensure a smooth transition between generations of nuclear specialists. With this, the plant confirms its commitment to forming the next generation of energy professionals, whose task will be to ensure the long-term safe and reliable operation of nuclear power units.
