Bulgaria needs the talent, energy, and high ambitions that the Technical University of Sofia creates and develops. This was stated by the Head of State, Rumen Radev, who participated today in the solemn ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Technical University – Sofia. "It is a pride that our first technical university, which has trained more than 100,000 qualified engineers, is today one of the largest, most modern, and prestigious technical universities in Eastern Europe," the Head of State pointed out in his greeting. "It is the honor of your generation to carry out the long-awaited transformation of the domestic economy towards high value-added production, towards significantly higher productivity, towards an accelerated transition to a circular green economy and digitalization," Rumen Radev also stated in his greeting. The President emphasized that it is important for our country to once again export finished products, rather than mainly raw materials. According to the Head of State, the deep political, economic, and financial crisis that the country fell into in recent decades put the Technical University to the test. "But Bulgaria continues to develop. Our revived ambitions, European integration, the influx of investments and new technologies have revived interest in engineering specialties and applied science," the President pointed out and added that engineering sciences confidently occupy the place they deserve at the forefront of efforts to build a modern Bulgaria. To the students and doctoral students of the higher education institution, the President wished to invest all their energy in the fruitful integration of Bulgaria into the economy of the future. You have an incredible foundation - generations of teachers, management, academic staff, and engineers dedicated to the development of Bulgarian science and industry, the Head of State also stated. On the occasion of the anniversary of the higher education institution, Rumen Radev presented the Honorary Sign of the Head of State, which was accepted by the rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov.
