According to a survey by Trend, every tenth Bulgarian agrees with the statement that COVID-19 spreads through 5G technology. The exploitation of the 5G network has already begun in our country. It is not yet at full capacity. The first generation of this cellular system concept began to enter the Western world as early as the 1980s. In our country, it appeared in the 1990s with the advent of mobile phones. In the second generation, digital communications entered, focused on voice data transmission and weak internet connection. In this case, it is about upgrading the possibility for higher data transmission speeds, explained Assoc. Prof. Dr. Klement Angelov from the Faculty of Telecommunications at TU. He said that 5G represents a unification of 2G, 3G, and 4G into a new concept. There is no clearly proven health danger, Dr. Marin Penkov, head of the imaging diagnostics clinic at "St. Ivan Rilski", was categorical. There are new knowledge, new diseases, but one cannot blame something new, he believes. A few months ago, a petition was submitted to the National Assembly for a moratorium against the new technology. The chairman of the National Initiative "Stop 5G in Bulgaria" Boyko Nikiforov told BNT that the harmful influence of mobile technologies has been proven and asked whether it is worth risking the health of our children for the introduction of some new technology. Dr. Penkov explained that at this stage there is no study proving that 5G technology is harmful and there are no proven harms from electromagnetic emissions. The claim that there is a link between this technology and the coronavirus he defined as absurd. "There is no way a physical quantity can carry RNA," he was categorical and explained that such a thing is possible only in the realm of science fiction.
