A quarantined student will follow online lectures from home.
"On September 28, the academic year at the Technical University will begin in person, as this is the wish of 60 percent of the students according to the data of an online survey in connection with the pandemic among 1000 young people from the largest technical university in the country," announced Zhivko Rusev, Chairman of the Student Council of the Technical University in the capital, to BNR. "According to the survey, 20 percent say they will not feel safe during their studies due to the coronavirus, 25 percent say they will feel completely safe“. „Colleagues insist on in-person training, because a large part of our disciplines are practical, certain equipment is used, explained to BNR Iliyan Kordov, secretary of the Student Council at TU. According to the order of the rector of the Technical University, Prof. Ivan Králov, if a student is quarantined, they will be able to follow their lectures online from home, because cameras will be installed in the halls. If a lecturer is quarantined, their courses also switch to remote learning. After that, they return to in-person classes, after the end of the quarantine. "The other measure that will be applied is that large groups of over 100 people, will be divided into different rooms, 40 people each, so that many young people do not gather in one place. The Technical University has many rooms. Lecturers will be found," Russev also said. "The lastquestion in the survey is related to dormitories," Russev added. At TU access for outsiders to your room in the dormitory is still prohibited. „35 percent of those surveyed want the ban to be completely lifted , according to the Student Council's research. 35 percent, however, responded that they want a limit on the number of external persons allowed into the dormitories, while 10 percent want the access ban to remain.“ – Zhivko Rusev further explained. Within a week, the Student Council will submit a proposal to the TUS management to ease the measures in the dormitories. We expect this proposal to be accepted“. Entry will still require registering personal data. Students explained that their colleagues comply with anti-epidemic measures, as they do not believe that masks should be worn for 8 hours during lectures, but disinfectants are available at all TUS entrances and are being used.“ “There is some fear of coronavirus among young people, but we must now return to normal life,” Rusev added.
