- Prof. Dr. Alla Reznik delivered a lecture on the topic "New X-ray photoconductors for application in medical imaging detectors" on 17.07.2024.
- Prof. Dr. Dimitar Alexandrov delivered a lecture on the topic "The future of new energy sources based on low-energy nuclear reaction (LENR)" on 18.07.2024.
Dr. Alla Reznik is a professor in the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Environmental Research at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Canada. She is the director of the Regional Health Research Institute in Thunder Bay and chair of the Union for Physics of Radiation Effects in Medical Diagnostics. Dr. Reznik defended her doctoral degree in solid-state physics at the Israel Institute of Technology, Technion. After several years as a senior physicist at GE Medical Systems, she decided to return to academia and accepted a position as a research associate at the University of Toronto, Canada. In 2008, she was appointed Chair of Canadian Researchers in Physics (CRC in physics), and in 2013, she was reappointed as CRC in medical imaging physics. Her leadership and research productivity were confirmed in 2018 with the awarding of Level 1 CRC in radiation medical imaging physics according to the rating system of the Canadian Research Agency. She is a specialist in photoconductive materials and technologies for radiation medical imaging diagnostics. Her work focuses on advanced detectors for X-ray images with direct conversion of X-rays into electrical charge at low doses. Another focus of her work is on semiconductor technology for organ-directed positron emission tomography (PET). The goal is to improve the diagnostic capabilities of X-ray medical imaging, accompanied by a reduction in radiation dose and image acquisition time compared to conventional technologies.
Prof. Dr. Dimitar Alexandrov is a long-time lecturer and researcher in the field of semiconductor technologies, micro- and nanoelectronics. He defended his dissertation at TU-Sofia in 1988 and worked as a senior lecturer in the Department of Microelectronics until 1999. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Quebec, Ontario, Canada (1997-1999). From 1999 to 2011, he was an associate professor at Lakehead University in Canada, and in 2011, he became a professor there. Since 2009, he has been the head of the Semiconductor Research Laboratory. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Materials Research Society, International Society for Condensed Matter Nuclear Science, Professional Engineers Ontario, and the Canadian Nuclear Society. His scientific interests are in the fields of microelectronics, materials science, and nuclear physics.
