
In memory of Professor Dr. Krastyo Petkov, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) from 1990 to 1997, the confederation establishes an annual scholarship in his name. The decision to establish the scholarship was adopted by the Coordination Council of CITUB at its meeting on 02.06.2017, with Protocol No. 1/02.06.2017. The co-founders of the scholarship are Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", University of National and World Economy, and European University College of Economics and Management.
The scholarship is a one-time award of 2000 BGN, granted to one participant in the competition. It is intended for young researchers in the field of labor economics and social sciences from all universities and higher education institutions in the country, as well as from the institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The following are eligible to participate in the competition: PhD students and students/specialists in master's programs (after completing a bachelor's degree or at least in the fifth year for specialties where training is directly for a master's degree), up to 35 years of age, who specialize in the field of:
A. Labor economics and management, including human resource management, social security economics, labor market, management of labor migrations, organization of labor in enterprises, etc.;
B. Social economy, including the economics of cooperatives, economics of social activities, corporate social responsibility of enterprises/corporate social responsibility;
C. Social sciences: economic sociology and sociology of labor; political science; social policy and labor policy; social services; social psychology and psychology of labor; organizational behavior; demography;
D. Industrial relations;
D. Applied aspects of labor and/or social security law;
E. Public administration in the field of labor, social security, social policy and social activities.
The competition is conducted through a competitive paper, which is evaluated by a scientific jury. On 28.11.2018, the Executive Committee of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (KNSB) took a decision (Protocol No. 8 /29.11.2018) that candidates for the 2019 competition should have the opportunity to work on one of two topics of their choice, including:
A. "The Information Age, Industry 4.0 and the Future of Work: Global and European Dimensions and Their Implications in Bulgaria – Employment, Organization and Working Conditions, Labor Rights and Industrial Relations"
B. "Consequences for the Bulgarian economy and labor market from the 'brain drain' of workforce to other countries, mainly to EU/EEA countries".
At the same meeting – on 28.11.2018, the Executive Committee of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (KNSB) adopted a decision (Protocol No. 8/29.112018) to launch a procedure for collecting proposals for the 2019 competition, with the deadline for proposals and submission of documents being from 14.01.2019 to 14.05.2019. It is also proposed that student councils at the respective universities and higher education institutions be included in the call for candidates for the competition.
The proposal submitted by an individual candidate must be in the form of an application to the President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (KNSB) for admission to participate in the competition, with data about the candidate and attachments:
- autobiography or CV, with date of birth;
- copy of certificate from the higher education institution/scientific institute for the studied specialty under the master's program or for the specialty for which the doctoral dissertation is being prepared;
- copy of diploma for completed specialty (bachelor's and/or master's degree), if it does not coincide with the one studied under the master's or doctoral program;
