On November 25th and 26th, the international robotics competition – Robotex International 2022, in which the Robotics Club of the Technical University – Sofia participated in the categories "Mini Sumo", "Water Rallye" and "Comodule Line Following", was held in Tallinn, Estonia.
In the "Mini Sumo" category, the team with members Martin Groshov, Aleksandar Kolchev, and Yancho Kostov placed 25th. The "Mini Sumo" category is a fierce competition between two fully autonomous mobile robots, and according to the regulations, the goal is for one robot to push its opponent out of the collision arena. More than 35 robots competed in this category.
In the "Water Rally" category, the team from Roboclub, consisting of members Hristo Raykov, Nikolina Vladimirova, and Alex Novkov, placed 6th. The "Water Rally" category is a competition between autonomous robots that perform autonomous control and navigation in water, and 10 robots competed in it.
In the oldest category "Comodule Line Following" – line following – The team from Roboklub, consisting of members Miroslav Nikolov, Yavor Tsokov, and Angela-Gabriel Alexandrova, ranked 18th. The "Comodule Line Following" category is a competitive event for autonomous robots following a line with the most suitable algorithm, in which 52 teams competed.
The Robotex International competition has been held annually in Estonia since 2001, and its main task is to bring together the best teams and robots from around the world on one stage. In Robotex International 2022, more than 25 countries participated, with over 2500 competitors and more than 4000 visitors.
The methodological supervisor of the Robotics Club at TU – Sofia – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vladimir Hristov is extremely pleased with the results achieved by the teams. Due to official commitments, he did not accompany the teams to Estonia, but was in constant online contact regarding the ongoing competitions and events. The Robotics Club at the Technical University – Sofia was represented by its chairman – Denis Mustafov, who is also the mentor of the teams participating in the 3 categories „Mini Sumo“, „Water Rallye“ and „Comodule Line Following“. He is also extremely pleased with the results achieved given the high level of competition and the participants. The experience and knowledge gained during Robotex International 2022 is an invaluable resource that the members of the Robotics Club at TU – Sofia have acquired and will contribute to their professional development in the future.
Assoc. Dr. Vladimir Hristov believes that the Robotics Club has represented TU-Sofia exceptionally well, and that the experience gained at Robotex International 2022 will greatly contribute to the technical and emotional growth of its members, enhance its prosperity, and deepen the newly formed connections with other clubs. In conclusion, it can be summarized that Robotex International 2022 is a unique event that can inspire and motivate you to create and develop to a world-class level!
