The Technical University hosted (25.10.2018) the first Chinese-Bulgarian Rectors' Forum, dedicated to opportunities for cooperation in the field of higher technical education and scientific research between Bulgarian and Chinese universities. The delegation included 58 heads of 44 Chinese universities, most of whom are in the field of higher technical education. On the Bulgarian side, rectors and vice-rectors from 8 universities participated in the forum – the Technical Universities in Sofia, Varna, and Gabrovo, the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, the University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski", the University of Forestry, the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev", and the Higher School of Civil Engineering "Lyuben Karavelov". Official guests were Ms. Fu Bo, Director of the Chinese Association for International Educational Exchange, and Ms. Wang Ying, Department of Research Programs and Marketing.
The Rector, Corresponding Member Prof. Dr. Eng. Sci. Georgi Mihov, the Director of the Plovdiv Branch Prof. Vaelo Nikolov, the Chairman of the General Assembly Prof. Georgi Todorov, and the Director of the Directorate "International Exchange and Integration" Prof. Ivan Yachev participated in the forum. In his welcome address, Prof. Mihov emphasized the long-standing traditional ties between TU and a number of Chinese universities. I think that these new moments in our mutual communication will provide an opportunity for new, more fruitful joint results in the field of technical sciences and engineering, he said.
Two presentations were made at the forum on the opportunities for training, educational programs, and scientific projects of the universities from both sides.
A desire for cooperation with TU - Sofia was expressed by a number of Chinese universities. The guests visited with interest the teaching laboratory for "Digital Construction of Implants" at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
