Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Michaela Georgieva, Head of the Department of Chemistry, provided a brief overview of the historical foundations and the establishment of the department, and expressed gratitude to those who laid the foundation for its development. The Department of Chemistry is one of the fundamental departments at the Technical University – Sofia, providing basic chemistry education to students from all faculties, including in programs taught in foreign languages. The department plays a key role in building interdisciplinary knowledge and competencies necessary for the modern engineer. As an independent academic structure, the department was established in 1976 at VMEI "V. I. Lenin" by Order of the Committee for Science, Technical Progress, and Higher Education. Throughout all periods, the department has been established as an important educational and scientific center, thanks to the efforts of generations of teachers and researchers.

An exciting highlight of the celebration was added by the youngest associate professor in the department – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bozhidar Stefanov, who, as a true communicator of science and a favorite teacher of students, demonstrated interesting experiments with chemical reactions and tested the audience.
The ceremonial cake with fireworks and the group photo for the generations marked the climax of the celebration for the half-century anniversary of the Department of Chemistry.
Happy anniversary! We wish you relentless pursuit of scientific discoveries, academic success, and inspired students!
