
Today, July 3, 2019, during the meeting of the Academic Council, the Rector of the Technical University – Sofia, Corresponding Member Professor Dr. Eng. Georgi Mihov announced the names and presented the certificates to the students who won this year's scholarships "I study at TU-Sofia to realize myself in Bulgaria" and "Scholarship of the Rector of TU-Sofia".
The scholarships "I study at TU-Sofia to realize myself in Bulgaria" and "Scholarship of the Rector of TU-Sofia" are part of the campaign "If you have given, you have not lived in vain...", which the Career and Alumni Center initiated through its activities. The campaign includes every shared idea, support, financial or material contribution for a better-organized and successfully functioning university. The scholarships are awarded for the second consecutive year with the intention that this will become a tradition.
The Scholarship of the Rector of TU-Sofia is in the amount of 1000.00 leva. This year it was won by Mohammad Hamid Sarvari from Afghanistan, a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, 1st year Master's program "Power Engineering and Electrical Equipment" (in English), and by Stoyan Madzhirov, a student at the Faculty of Telecommunications, 3rd year Bachelor's program "Telecommunications".
The scholarship "I study at TU-Sofia to realize myself in Bulgaria" is worth 5000.00 leva and is a donation from Eng. Vasil Velev – Chairman of the Board of Trustees and member of the Alumni Council of TU-Sofia. This year it was won by Ivan Marinov, a student at the Faculty of Energy Machinery Engineering, 3rd year Bachelor's program "Thermal Energy and Nuclear Energy".
The scholarships aim to support student learning and assist with future career goals, to showcase good examples of outstanding students, through which to motivate the student community to recognize education as a value, as well as to stimulate other university alumni to join the campaign.
