
YEAR OF MATHEMATICS
AT TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY - SOFIA
Formulas, numbers, equations - mathematics is not just that. It is the language we use every day and is at the foundation of technologies, innovations, and great ideas. Mathematics teaches us to understand, analyze, and create - skills that are necessary in every profession and at every stage of life.
The Year of Mathematics at TU - Sofia, organized by Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics is an invitation to everyone - students, students, teachers, researchers, and curious minds to discover mathematics as a living, dynamic, and applied knowledge that is the foundation of modern science and a key element of quality education.
Within the 2026: Year of Mathematics, the university will organize a series of educational, scientific, and public events, where it will demonstrate mathematics as a key to understanding the world and the future!
In June the focus is on the international conference "Application of Mathematics in Industry and Economics", which is held annually and has a history of over 50 years.

The main goal of the conference series is to bring together both established and young talented scientists from Bulgaria and abroad to discuss and exchange views on contemporary trends and applications of mathematics in industry, physics, biology, economics, etc. The refereed papers in the International Conference are published in Springer Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems and are indexed in SCOPUS – the largest database in the world for abstracts and citations of refereed research literature with an SJR (Scientific Journal Rankings) factor.
The conference includes special seminars on: "Bioinformatics", "Data Science and Artificial Intelligence", "Fractional Calculus, Special Functions and Applications", "Partial Differential Equations and Applications", "Software Sciences and Innovations for Interactive Presentation of Bulgarian Cultural-Historical Heritage", "Digitalization and Innovations in Pedagogy".
