For significant contribution to the development of Francophone higher education in Bulgaria, Franco-Bulgarian scientific cooperation, and in connection with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Technical University, Rector Prof. Georgi Mihov awarded H.E. Mr. Xavier Laper de Cabannes the University's highest honor - the Honorary Gold Medal with ribbon.
At the University, Ambassador de Cabannes opened a new high-tech educational laboratory for Digital Programming and Rapid Prototyping, equipped with a modern 3D printer, laser machine, and open-source micro-controllers, which will provide additional opportunities for applying acquired knowledge and skills at the Faculty of French-language instruction in Electrical Engineering.
The laboratory was established with the active financial, logistical, and moral support of the French Institute and with the assistance of partner French engineering schools, particularly Telecom Bretagne. It provides resources for digital fabrication to anyone with ideas who wishes to practically engage in designing and rapidly creating prototypes.
